lord bilimoria delivers incredibly smooth academy session

The Seven Hills office paused earlier today to welcome founder of Cobra Beer, and good friend of the firm, Lord Bilimoria as part of its Academy series.

He spoke to the team about his entrepreneurial journey and the obstacles he has overcome along the way. Founded in 1990, Cobra Beer now exports to over 40 countries worldwide and is brewed to a unique recipe.

Lord Bilimoria talked with candour about the first time he successfully challenged perceived wisdom to improve on the traditional approach. Whilst at secondary school in India, he questioned why he was being forced to learn a local language that would be unlikely to serve him in later life. His persistence led him to persuading the school to change the system so that he and other children in his situation could learn Hindi instead. This resolve, he believes, is vital to success in any entrepreneurial endeavour.

He recalled the different chapters of his career fondly and taught the team some valuable lessons, notably: “You should never do anything unless you are willing to do your best”.

He was knighted in 2004 for his services to business and entrepreneurship, and was appointed to the House of Lords as a cross bench peer two years later. Since 2013, Seven Hills has built the profile of Cobra Beer as one of Britain’s most well-loved export brands, and created a media platform for Lord Bilimoria to tell the story behind the beer.

We look forward to welcoming him back.
