Leading law firm Penningtons Manches today convened a high profile group of entrepreneurs, fast-growth tech firm founders and Venture Capital investors at a roundtable breakfast event to discuss rising US investment interest in the UK – and the challenges and opportunities facing UK tech companies looking to attract investment and expand into the US.
Attendees discussed the of rising Silicon Valley appetite to invest in UK tech firms, and the factors that make British companies attractive to the US investor. Guests also debated key differences between the US and UK investor landscape and the growth of tech innovation in cities in the Golden Triangle – London, Oxford and Cambridge.
The discussion coincides with the publication of Penningtons Manches’ new report, From the Golden Gate to the Golden Triangle, which uncovers illuminating insights about the US-UK investment landscape.
The report finds British companies are enjoying an unprecedented period of investment from West Coast-based US firms, with 74 deals contributing to a total value of £1.08 billion in 2017 – the first time Silicon Valley investment into the UK has broken the billion-pound mark.
