Simply Business Achieves B Corporation Status

Simply Business this week announced that it has been certified as a ‘B Corporation’, or ‘B Corp’, joining the world’s largest movement of purpose-driven businesses.

Simply Business is the UK’s largest insurance provider to join the worldwide B Corp family, having met the rigorous standards of accountability, transparency and social and environmental performance required, and proving that successful businesses really can be a force for good.

The UK insurance provider was valued at $490 million earlier this year, when it was sold by Aquiline Capital Partners to the US insurance company Travelers. It is now in the process of launching in the US, with the aim of hiring 200 staff in Boston by the end of 2018.

The announcement comes after the business spearheaded a series of initiatives to transform its success into positive social change. In 2016, for example, £52,000 was raised for its main charity of choice, Whizz-Kidz, and sponsorship has this year been given to the England Amputee Football Association in support of their European Amputee Football Federation tournament campaign.

As part of a drive to increase their own inclusivity and diversity in the workplace, Simply Business is extending work experience to disadvantaged young people; mentoring people with convictions; and implementing the Women in Finance Charter.

Simply Business is already widely recognised for the positive impact it has made as an employer, previously holding the title of The Sunday Times’ ‘Best Company to Work For’ for two years running.
