Seven Hills co-founder Michael Hayman MBE delivered the message that mission matters at the Digital Catapult Centre today in London.

In front of an audience of some of the UK’s most influential investors, angels and startups, Michael presented the main themes of Mission: How the Best in Business Breakthrough, and argued that the greatest challenge to scaling was to maintain the lean mentality of a startup – reflecting an argument made earlier by Saul Klein, partner at investment firm LocalGlobe, that the scaling up experience was like ‘sprinting up a mountain’.

Michael also chaired a panel of investors in a session called, ‘From Local to Global: How to Scale Internationally’. Panellists included: Gonçalo de Vasconcelos of SyndicateRoom, Dr Alex Buchan from Northstar Ventures and Sarah Turner, founder of Angel Academe. The discussion covered the rise of crowdfunding, the strength of the UK’s angel network and the closing gap between funding opportunities in London and the rest of the country.
