From the home of the 2012 Olympics, to a hub of innovation, culture and collaboration today, East London’s growth over the past decade is nothing short of transformative.
Celebrating the success of this thriving ecosystem and gazing forward to what lies on the horizon, we were delighted to support The Future is Now – a collaborative event from Here East, Plexal, Lendlease and London Legacy Development Corporation.
Held at Plexal in Here East on the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, the event brought together innovators, entrepreneurs, creatives, and politicians to discuss what’s next for East London. Nearly 20 speakers, including George Osborne, Ed Balls, Svana Gisla of Abba Voyage, and Cisco’s Tom Kneen, explored essential questions like:
- What are the essential drivers of innovation and growth in today’s fast-changing landscape?
- How can the next generation be equipped with the skills needed to navigate the impact of AI?
- What strategies can nurture and expand London’s creative economy?
- What does the future hold for East London’s development?
- How can the Olympic legacy continue to fuel economic growth?
Here East CEO Gavin Poole and Lendlease Executive Director Matthew Steenhoek also penned a joint piece for City AM, sharing “lessons in growth from East London’s meteoric rise.”
“East London is not just an isolated or local success story, but a national one. It did not happen overnight or by magic.”
