Emma Watson delighted the One Young World Summit as she unveiled the nine recipients of her inaugural One Young World scholarship. Watson spoke candidly about launching the HeForShe campaign and the abuse and threats that followed, describing it as ‘opening Pandora’s box’.
Among the recipients of the Emma Watson scholarship was Lina Khalifeh, founder of SheFighter, Jordan’s first self-defence centre for women. On a mission to train 10 million women in 10 years, to combat the high rates of domestic abuse in the Middle East, Khalifeh and Watson also took part in a defence training session.
Seven Hills is running the global media campaign for One Young World for the sixth year, and has been a key partner since One Young World 2011 in Zurich.
