- Artwork created by internationally acclaimed artist Soy Fira
One Young World has announced its entry to the world of Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs) to fund scholarships for young women working in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).
It has collaborated with critically acclaimed NFT artist and One Young World Ambassador Soy Fira to create and sell a unique series of NFT artworks, the proceeds of which will fund scholarships for young leaders from across the globe to attend its upcoming summit this year. It is aiming to raise 6 ETH (£15,000) through the art, which will be available this month through OpenSea, the largest digital marketplace for the sale of NFTs globally.
Soy Fira is a Colombian Civil Engineer and a creator of NFT art. She is also the co-founder of the biggest NFT telegram group in Latin America convening more than 1,500 artists and collectors. She has worked with Vogue creating paintings for International Women’s Day and one of her pieces has flown to space with Jeff Bezos, the founder of Amazon.
David Jones, co-founder of One Young World, said: “As technology plays an ever increasing part in connecting the planet, we need to ensure women are not excluded from specialising in STEM skills that are vital to building this world.
“We need to break down stereotypes and spotlight how technology has the power to create opportunities and empower women. We’re delighted to be joining forces with Soy Fira as she is an inspiration for girls across the world looking to pursue a career in tech.
“One Young World is proud to be the first UK charity creating and selling artwork in the form of NFTs to raise money. As a charity, it is important for us to consider the ways we can innovate our fundraising efforts through the use of technology”.
Seven Hills is proud to support One Young World in its work to identify, promote and connect the world’s most impactful young leaders to create a better world, with more responsible, more effective leadership.
