Innovate Finance brings together FinTech world at the Guildhall

Innovate Finance held its ninth annual Global Summit (IFGS) on 17th and 18th April, bringing together more than 250 speakers and almost 2000 delegates – leaders, innovators, and policymakers from the UK FinTech industry and beyond.

Seven Hills supported Innovate Finance in the curation of the agenda for the event, working with all speakers to produce a packed programme across three stages, covering the most important issues in financial services today.

In closing, Chair of Innovate Finance Lou Smith praised the event as another reminder of the power of collaboration: what we can achieve when we all come together and work towards a shared purpose, as well as the opportunities to deliver a better and more accessible industry.

It was a message echoed all through summit, not least in a brilliant and inspiring opening from CEO of Innovate Finance, Janine Hirt and throughout Day 1 – moderated on the Old Library stage by BBC Presenter Katie Derham and on the Livery Hall by Edie Lush.

We heard from those at the forefront of FinTech innovation, including Jaidev Janardana, CEO of Zopa Bank; Lisa Jacobs, CEO of Funding Circle UK; TS Anil, CEO of Monzo Bank; and Julia Hoggett, CEO at the LSEG (London Stock Exchange Group).

Seven Hills co-founder Michael Hayman also took to the stage on Monday morning, to moderate a fantastic panel on how to deliver a better Financial Services sector, with Louise Hill, co-founder and COO, GoHenry; Charles McManus, CEO of ClearBank; Paul Taylor, CEO and founder, Thought Machine and Samantha Seaton, CEO of Moneyhub.

The day was an opportunity to hear from policymakers and regulators, with key announcements from the Economic Secretary to the Treasury, Andrew Griffith; Jessica Rusu, Financial Conduct Authority; Sir Jon Cunliffe, Deputy Governor of the Bank of England and Ezechi Britton MBE, CEO of CFIT.

Just as impactful were our speakers on Day 2, moderated by Sasha Qadri and Nektarios Liolios, including both Government and Opposition representatives – Minister for Tech and the Digital Economy, Paul Scully and Shadow City Minister, Tulip Siddiq.

We were also joined by former Chancellor of the Exchequer, George Osborne in conversation with Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong, as well as a fireside chat with Gwyneth Nurse, Director-General of Financial Services at HM Treasury, and a fantastic conversation moderated by TotallyMoney with Head of Klarna in the UK, Alex Marsh and Michael Saadat, International Head of Public Policy at Block.

We are thrilled to have completed another successful summit supporting Innovate Finance. We are now looking ahead to FinTech as a Force For Good in October 2023.
