Chloe Smith: Insights of an Intern

I was first introduced to Seven Hills as a Law graduate, with a love for writing and exercising my critical thinking skills. Having produced and hosted my own podcast, I had a keen interest in current affairs and content creation. Seven Hills offered the opportunity for me to explore both.

Seven Hills’ emphasis on purpose and impact led campaigns was really what drew me to the business, with many of our social impact and philanthropic clients centering their work around the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals. Likewise, what drew me to the business further was a warm and welcoming team environment and a nurturing mentorship and buddy programme.

As part of the campaigns team during my internship, my day to day roles included: creating media lists; pitching to journalists; drafting briefing docs; management of social media channels. 

Coincidentally, my internship started at the beginning of the events season. I had the brilliant opportunity to spend a whole week of my internship in and around Soho at Advertising Week Europe 2022, going between Picturehouse Central, Ronnie Scotts and The National Gallery. Throughout the event I reactively pitched to broadcast, liaised with national journalists in person and gained so much insight into events management. 

I also obtained marketing experience during my internship, through managing multiple clients’ socials, this afforded me the opportunity to create and develop tailored social media content strategies for various clients and execute them across both LinkedIn and Twitter. 

As a result of my internship I was offered a permanent role as Campaigns Executive. In this role I have the ability to develop all these skills and explore various industries across many of our clients including tech, purpose led, media relations, social impact and investment businesses.
