CogX 2019: The Festival of All Things AI

The opening speech from London Mayor Sadiq Khan set the tempo for CogX 2019, which saw more than 15,000 delegates descend on Kings Cross for three days of debates, talks and workshops.

The Mayor used his opening remarks to praise the capital’s tech sector and called on the next Prime Minister to give artificial intelligence “the attention it deserves”, adding: “London is and always will be open to business and innovation and open to people.”

With more than 400 hours of content, spread over 63 acres and 11 stages in London’s Kings Cross, Europe’s largest festival for artificial intelligence and emerging technology was a unique event in this year’s London Tech Week calendar.

From the ethics of facial recognition and gender patriarchy, to AI-enabled advancements in government, health and education, the annual gathering provided an opportunity for Londoners to hear from the leading figures in AI.

Speakers from across industry, academia, government and technology, drove the conversation and debate, which featured keynotes from screenwriter and director Richard Curtis, lastminute.com founder Baroness Martha Lane Fox, Culture Secretary Jeremy Wright, and former cabinet minister Lord Mandelson.

CogX 2019 partnered with 2030 Vision this year, placing the UN’s 17 Sustainable Development Goals at the centre of the agenda as it asked speakers and guests to look towards building a brighter future.

Seven Hills was delighted to partner with CognitionX, leading the festival’s press office throughout London Tech Week.
