Seven Hills advisory board members Eileen Burbidge and Sarah Wood participated in a lively panel discussion on Wednesday. Held in conjunction with the Wall Street Journal, the event – Inside Tech: Startup, Then Scale Up – But How? – saw Eileen and Sarah discuss the current UK investment market, with Eileen saying, “there has never been a better time to start a technology company in London”.
They were joined on stage by venture capitalists Harry Briggs and Suranga Chandratillake from BGF Ventures and Balderton Capital respectively. The panel was chaired by WSJ’s EMEA Editor, Thorold Barker.
The panel also drew on their experience and expertise to advise what a startup founder needs to know in order to grow and scale their business. The importance of teamwork was reinforced throughout, as was the importance of business with purpose. As Sarah surmised, “consumers want to buy from a brand they can affiliate with”.
