Earlier today, Seven Hills co-founders Michael Hayman and Nick Giles were joined by dunnhumby co-founder, Edwina Dunn to discuss mission-driven businesses as part of Stylist Magazine’s “Reclaim Your Lunch Break” campaign.
Chaired by Stylist editor Lisa Smosarski and held at the prestigious RSA, the live conversation was part of a series of free events hosted by Stylist to encourage readers across the UK to improve their work/life balance by taking a full hour lunch break at least twice a week.
After a presentation by Michael Hayman explaining why mission is key to business success, exploring the themes of his new book “MISSION: How the Best in Business Break Through“, Edwina Dunn spoke about the need for businesses to adapt to today’s environment and the role of a shared mission in successful partnerships.
This was followed by an interactive Q&A session with the audience. Questions included what are the learnings for both the charity and public sector and whether further education such as MBA’s are a hindrance or a help for aspiring entrepreneurs.
The event closed with more business advice, as each of the speakers provided their top tip for entrepreneurs. Learn to switch off, advised Edwinna Dunn, have a clear sense of purpose, said Nick Giles and it’s ok to believe in yourself, encouraged Michael Hayman.
If you didn’t manage to ask your question during the Q&A session, tweet it to @MichaelHayman and @Nick_Giles with ‘Q’ at the beginning of your tweet and they will be sure to answer it. Similarly, if you missed the opportunity to purchase a copy of “MISSION: How the Best in Business Break Through”, it is out now and available to purchase on Amazon.
