Seven Hills BPI supported the national launch of Sister’s ‘Going for Growth’ report, following its Manchester launch in December.
How can we unleash the UK’s start-up potential? This question was at the forefront of Sister’s inaugural thought leadership report and our discussion at the event, as leading voices from the innovation space convened in Shoreditch to explore the role of start-ups in driving economic growth.
Sister Project Director Brad Topps opened the event by highlighting the role of innovation districts like Sister in strengthening the UK’s start-up ecosystem. This set the stage for a fireside chat between Priya Guha MBE from Merian Ventures and The Times Enterprise Network’s Hannah Prevett, who also led the panel discussion that followed.
The panel featured Aline Miller, Academic Innovation Lead at Sister; Tom Adeyoola, Co-founder of Extend Ventures; Irene Graham OBE, CEO of the ScaleUp Institute; and David Houghton, Senior Investment Manager at Antler and Founder of Social Mobility Ventures. Together, they explored the challenges and opportunities facing the UK’s high-growth businesses.
The insights from this report serve as a timely call to action as the UK positions itself as a global leader in innovation. Sustainable growth relies on proactive support from innovation hubs like Sister, which play a vital role in equipping start-ups with the resources, networks, and opportunities they need to thrive in an increasingly competitive global landscape.
