Seven Hills co-founder Michael Hayman MBE joined business commentator Chris Blackhurst for London Live’s Headline Interview to discuss mission-driven businesses and entrepreneurship in the UK.
Michael spoke on the growing trend of businesses with purpose at the heart of what they do. He highlighted that “the old established orders in business are changing” and as a result, businesses would need to adapt. In this ever-changing environment, the companies that are breaking through are the ones that want to make a difference.
Using the examples of Wholefoods and Uber, Michael demonstrated how companies with mission, who go out and campaign, are the ones gaining momentum.
Addressing the start-up explosion presently taking place in the UK, Michael said it represented the great future of the country. A believer that “we can and do create worldbeaters”, Michael stressed that to realise the country’s full potential, there is a need to develop the Northern Powerhouse and its entrepreneurial culture.
Michael Hayman and co-author Nick Giles further discuss the importance of brand purpose and mission in their new book from Penguin, ‘MISSION: How the Best in Business Break Through’ out now.
