On Tuesday 6th December, London’s leading technology entrepreneurs and investors gathered at the Courthouse Hotel in Shoreditch for the Scale-Up Series: Pitch Off. Hosted by VentureFounders in partnership with Microsoft Accelerator, the pitch off was the inaugural event of the Scale-Up Series.
The evening saw seven high-growth companies pitch their business to an audience of industry experts for the chance to win the Investors Choice 2016 award. Competitors included ticket buying platform Fatsoma, advertising technology firm Samba Networks and medical technology company Lightpoint Medical.
Seven Hills co-founder Michael Hayman MBE opened the evening, and was later joined on stage by VentureFounders Chairman Martin McCourt and Warwick Davies of Microsoft Accelerator to discuss the UK’s scale-up ecosystem.
The competitors then took to the stage to present their business concept, outline their future growth plans and answer questions from the audience. Before the winner was announced, Michael hosted a fireside chat with Martin McCourt and ScaleUp Institute CEO Irene Graham to discuss the competing companies, as well as the tech landscape in the UK in the aftermath of Brexit.
After the votes were counted, Lightpoint Medical was announced as the winner – with CEO Dr. David Tuch receiving the award at the end of the evening.
