More than 800 senior figures from the digital community gathered today at Here East for the Investor Showcase – Tech London Advocates’ biggest event to date.
Tech London Advocates recently identified market uncertainty amidst Article 50 negotiations as the single biggest challenge facing British tech companies. Today’s showcase was an opportunity for investors, unicorns and entrepreneurs to examine the challenges the tech industry must overcome to secure London’s position as the tech capital of Europe.
Russ Shaw, the founder of Tech London Advocates, led speakers from Europe’s most influential tech VCs, including representatives from Atomico, LocalGlobe, Octopus Ventures, Amadeus Capital and BGF Ventures to discuss the future of London tech investment.
Michael Hayman MBE, co-founder of Seven Hills, hosted Tough Talk, a panel debate posing the hard questions about London’s fight back as a tech hub. Former advisor to David Cameron, Daniel Korski, was joined by Level39’s Ben Brabyn, Metail’s Tom Adeyoola, Seedr’s Jeff Lynn, Funding London’s Maggie Rodriguez-Piza and ComputerWeekly’s Most Influential Woman in Tech, Jacqueline de Rojas for the hard-hitting discussion.
Some 50 tech startups and scaleups exhibited in the Investor Showcase Marketplace to demonstrate the strength of the sector. Attractions included VR headsets, food tech tasting stations and fintech businesses.
The event coincided with the launch of London’s Tech Investment Showcase, a new thought-leadership report from Tech London Advocates which included contributions from 22 VCs, experts and entrepreneurs about the UK’s tech investment landscape.
Seven Hills delivered the full campaign, including the event, report and a comprehensive media campaign. Journalists from Business Insider, the BBC and many tech trade publications attended the event and coverage appeared in the Evening Standard, City AM and ITV News.
