VisionSpring has published the findings of the THRIVE study (Tradespeople and Hand-workers Rural Initiative for a Vision-enhanced Economy), a landmark academic research study conducted in rural Bangladesh. Carried out in partnership with BRAC and Queen’s University Belfast, this randomised controlled trial revealed the transformative effects of eyeglasses on individuals living in low-income communities.
After receiving the eye tests and reading glasses they needed, participants experienced a 33.4% increase in their monthly incomes, rising from $35.3 to $47.1 over the course of eight months. This financial boost was particularly significant for previously unemployed participants, suggesting that glasses helped them return to work.
Seven Hills was proud to support VisionSpring in ensuring this groundbreaking research reached a wide international audience. Through strategic outreach efforts, we secured features in prestigious publications such as The New York Times and The Guardian, as well as coverage on NPR, Channel News Asia, Times Radio, and more.
