We’ve been working with London’s community food market Mercato Metropolitano on its ‘Food Waste to Food Feast’ competition – an exciting initiative in partnership with The Felix Project.
The final took place at Mercato Metropolitano in Elephant & Castle last Wednesday, which saw 10 finalists present their impressive ‘food waste’ dishes to six judges. This included TV chef and food writer Romy Gill MBE, the viral TikTok star Martyn Odell and Pratap Chahal, a supper club founder with an impressive cheffing resume.
Each of the finalists found a unique and creative way to repurpose food that would have normally gone to waste.
The competition winner, Rebecca from The Ferm, repurposed unwanted cauliflower leaves and broccoli stalks into delicious kimchi. Rebecca won the opportunity to host her very own supper club series at Mercato Metropolitano, whilst all of the finalists’ recipes will appear in an illustrated cookbook to raise money for The Felix Project.
Thanks to the team at Mercato Metropolitano for the opportunity to be involved in such an exciting project for a very important cause.
