Dragon Peter Jones CBE Crowns Winners of Tycoon in Schools
This week, Seven Hills supported the Peter Jones Foundation on the final of its nationwide enterprise competition, Tycoon in Schools, with the ceremony taking place at Buckingham Palace.
The winners were named by Dragons’ Den star Peter Jones CBE, who set up the competition five years ago.
Peter was joined on stage by HRH the Duke of York, KG, patron of the Peter Jones Foundation, and Seven Hills co-founder Michael Hayman MBE, who chaired the awards ceremony.
The competition saw over 2,000 school children across Britain go head-to-head to claim the winning title, which was ultimately awarded to the team from Westborough High School.
The winning business, Lease 2 Learn, enables students, teachers and the wider community to hire school IT equipment at a competitive and affordable price. The business had achieved a 1,839% profit ratio by the end of its trading period.
Peter said, “It is always such a great honour to crown the winners of Tycoon in Schools at Buckingham Palace alongside HRH The Duke of York, KG.
“Lease 2 Learn really stood out amidst the competition. The team blew me away with their professionalism – and most importantly, their business idea to support other students from their school.
“Every year, we see an incredibly high standard of business ideas come to fruition – and this year has been no exception. I have been bowled over by the achievements of all the students throughout the competition, and it has certainly been the most successful Tycoon in Schools yet.”
Tycoon in Schools has grown by 300% since its launch in 2012, and sits at the heart of Peter Jones’s mission to put enterprise at the heart of the education system.
Seven Hills led the media for this year’s campaign with highlights including ITV This Morning and BBC.
