Over 200 of the country’s most influential investors, advisers and entrepreneurs attended the inaugural AIM High: The IPO Summit yesterday to celebrate the success of the Alternative Investment Market and debate the merits of a London listing.
Seven Hills co-founder, Michael Hayman MBE compered the event, which was hosted by finnCap at Bloomberg’s European Headquarters in partnership with BGF, BDO and Eversheds.
Attendees heard from panels of investors, CEOs and advisers who brought the journey of an AIM listing to life. Panellists included leading figures from the UK’s investment scene, including: Luke Johnson of Risk Capital Partners, Giles Hargreave from Hargreave Hale and Andy Brough of Schroders. Topics of discussion ranged from the benefits of raising permanent capital on public markets to the need for companies to articulate a clear mission to their investors.
Charles Rolls, the co-founder of Fever Tree, closed the event by reflecting on the path from challenger brand to market icon. For those of thinking of listing on AIM, he had one piece of advice: ‘Underpromise and overdeliver.’
