BGF brought its Ready for Business campaign to Edinburgh’s Royal Botanic Gardens this week, hosting a discussion with some of the nation’s most prominent business leaders to mark its second event.
The panel comprised of Will Whitehorn, Chairman of SEC and Deputy Chairman of Stagecoach, Andy Lothian, CEO of the Insights Group and Audrey Baxter, Executive Chairman of Baxters Food Group.
They joined BGF CEO Stephen Welton and panel moderator, BBC presenter, Kirsty Wark, alongside guests on a night that re-affirmed BGF’s commitment to continue investing in the age of uncertainty, whilst championing the vital role of the Scottish economy in fuelling UK growth.
Panellists discussed how forthcoming challenges to equip the Scottish economy with the necessary infrastructure and ecosystems to develop can provide opportunities for politicians and businesses to have a role in harnessing this growth, through playing a part in creating a ‘scale-up nation’ and supporting entrepreneurs at this pivotal point.
Central to the evening’s discussions was the topic of how small-to-medium sized companies themselves can continue to grow, especially in an economic climate that has become synonymous with uncertainty, with the speakers focusing on the importance of businesses remaining optimistic and not reducing their growth ambitions.
The evening concluded with a BBQ and drinks, alongside a musical accompaniment, in the picturesque John Hope Gateway.
Seven Hills has been BGF’s lead communications partner since 2018, and is proud to support the Ready for Business campaign. You can read more about the campaign here.
